Some patrons note that service can slow down during peak times, particularly on Friday evenings when the restaurant reaches full capacity. A few customers suggest that using proper cutlery instead of wooden skewers may elevate the dining experience, especially for those tackling larger meals.
Another common complaint relates to the price of extra condiments, like a pot of gravy costing £1.90, which some find excessive compared to the overall budget-friendly nature of the menu.
Always look for a chippy who cook with dripping, and happened to be going to Otley. A lot of places are shut on Sunday but so glad these were open. The food was fantastic. Me and my partner opted for a small fish each and shared a portion of chips and a fish cake (a proper one not the ones that resemble a beer mat) and there was still loads there (seen some complaints about portion size but maybe they value quantity of quality?) The lad that served was very friendly and polite. Would 100% go here again.
We called in on Tuesday 26 Aug after reading reviews and was not disappointed. We were a party of 4 pensioners and had the pensioners special. It was beautiful, hand cut chips with crunchy batter and flacky fish. Delicious. The young lady serving us was a pleasure to meet, so attentive to our needs, and proper Yorkshire tea. Whilst we were there it poured down and a family came in wet through. The young lady got them dry towels to help dry themselves off. What great service. I wish I had caught her name as she deserves high praise. We will definitely be going back next time we are in Otley and recommend to anyone else who is fortunate enough to visit this lovely town. 10/10
Service was a little slow but worth the wait for perfectly crispy haddock, chips and curry sauce. Fish has a good firm texture. Perfectly placed adjacent to the coach stop.
I’ve been to a lot of chippies in my life but this by far is the best one yet. Everything reasonable prices apart from the dips because it was £1.90 for a pot of gravy. Bonkers. Delicious flavour and texture and thickness tho. I do think that have actual knifes and forks would be helpful because the little skewer things are pretty useless
Lovely fish and chips Nice portion for kids fish and chips Didn’t charge extra for scraps Great friendly staff Offered a drink and lolly pop with kids portion. Benches around the side for seating. Also restaurant around the side which opens later in the day. Possibly the best fish and chips on Otley. RECOMMENDED 5*
Delicious fish and chips with scraps. Portion sizes are generous, the chips and batter are the perfect crispness. Not too heavy and greasy which is lovely. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
Ate here Monday afternoon; great food, very accessible for wheelchair users, and the staff were lovely. The lady who served us was wonderfully polite and knew just when to ask if we needed water or anything else. Exceptionally good.
